Oliveira & Associates has been in business for 20+ years, providing exceptional client service, taking our role as trusted advisors very seriously. We like to think of ourselves as old school - the last firm standing when the mega corps rule the world.

For this position, we’re looking for a seasoned Staff Accountant, and someone ready to be a part of our team, our family, and the future of the company. You’ll be responsible for many aspects of an accomplished tax professional: preparing, finalizing, communicating with clients, and ideally you have an interest in reviewing and advisory service.

As a firm, we offer a wide range of accounting services from tax compliance to small business bookkeeping, and even full cycle outsourced corporate accounting. We’re also moving into the next evolution of the firm, exploring some technologies and new processes, bringing in a fresh generation of team members to help us take our growth one step at a time.

With at least four years of hands-on corporate and individual tax preparation experience, you’ve built a solid foundation that allows you to blaze through returns with consistent accuracy, and in our ideal world you also have experience with QuickBooks. You’re a true professional who works independently, but also values the importance of warm, consistent client communication and building trustworthy relationships.

We offer the professional services of a large firm with the warmth and personal attention of a smaller firm. We ask, we listen, take responsibility, and above all we focus on the care of our clients.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Preparing corporate and individual returns and workpapers
  • Coordinating client requests and deliverables, while building trusting relationships to provide excellent planning, consulting, and expertise
  • Preparing year end tax planning, tax projections, and quarterly estimates for clients
  • Assisting with tax notice/audit coordination and correspondence, including drafting response letters, researching reasons for notices, etc.
  • Finalizing books and preparing financial statements to record necessary adjustments for tax preparation and planning
  • Opportunity to participate in streamlining and automating  firm operations and service delivery

What You’ve Already Got:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • CPA or EA license preferred, or eligibility and willingness to pursue either designation, if not already obtained, preferred
  • Knowledge in corporate and individual tax law
  • 3-5+ years of recent tax preparation experience in public accounting required
  • Basic operating knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and/or QBO
  • Experience with New England multi-state return preparation a plus
  • Innate desire to serve, with a genuine interest in building trusting client advisory relationships
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge or curiosity of automation tools, and natural inclination to streamline, document, and automate accounting workflows a major plus
  • interest in tax advisory and client interaction a plus

What We Give:

  • Annual salary: $70,000+ per year, depending on experience
  • Health insurance for individual plan paid 100%
  • 401(k) plan
  • Three weeks paid vacation and one week paid sick time per year
  • Comp time earned for each hour of overtime during busy season, to be used outside of busy season as additional paid time off, or paid out
  • Bonus opportunities
  • CPA/EA license fee and CPE reimbursement
  • Family-focused/family-first environment
  • Summer gathering, holiday party, and birthday cakes
  • Growth opportunities and potential path to ownership available for those interested and aligned with our culture and vision
  • Also open to contract preparers interested in assisting through extension season, with an opportunity to become a permanent employee for the right fit
